Meet Ryan Kitchens. Until the Fall of 2011, Ryan led a carefree, happy and stress-free life as a six year old child in Alabama with his parents and siblings – him being the youngest as well as the only son! This all changed when on September 6th, 2011, Ryan was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) and rushed to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital four hours away from his home and his family. A short few days later on the 13th of September, Ryan had brain surgery in the hopes of removing as much tumor as possible from his brain – an extremely risky surgery. Today, Ryan commutes back and forth from the hospital while receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments that have caused him to become underweight, lose his hair, and feel very icky. Somehow, Ryan still remains upbeat and encouraging to all of those around him, even helping his loved ones through this difficult time. Ryan Kitchens is certainly nothing short of a superhero, and Butterfly Kisses has been blessed to be a part of Ryan’s courageous fight against medulloblastoma.
Update: “Lil’Bama” died on February 5th, 2012. Please continue to pray and send good thoughts for his family as they mourn the loss of their beautiful little boy and learn to live with such a great absence in their lives.
