Meet Bella Rodriguez-Torres. When Bella was just four years old, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. For months, Bella was paralyzed – unable to walk, run, jump or play like she had before diagnosis. However, miraculously, Bella underwent cancer treatment and was in remission, able to finally enjoy a life without the constant reminder of the cancer growing within her. And, shocking her doctors and oncologists, was no longer paralyzed! In April of 2009, Bella relapsed, as a tumor was found in her brain. Again, Bella underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery and rejoiced in the freedom of remission. Then, in September of 2011, a tumor was found. This time, in Bella’s right ovary, for which she underwent surgery to remove. In January of 2012, Bella relapsed another time when multiple tumors were found in her abdomen. Today, Bella continues to undergo treatment for her most recent relapse. To learn more about Bella and to receive updates on her progress, visit her website.
